If you recently attended one of our US headlining shows, we took one dollar from your ticket and donated it to Rara Tou Limen, the company run by our teachers in Oakland who bring Haitian folkloric dance and music to the Bay Area and whose teachings heavily influenced Nikki Nack. (Our drum teacher, musical director Daniel Brevil, also performed on the album.)
RTL will travel to Haiti as a company for the first time, collaborating and connecting with Haitian artists and audiences and bringing back a new wealth of experience to the Bay. With help from your attendance at our shows, 19 plane tickets to Haiti were just purchased — RTL’s dancers and musicians are on their way!
Long live small arts organizations who enrich our lives, our communities, and work very hard for very little. Happy 10th anniversary, Rara Tou Limen—we’re hoping you grow even more over the next 10.
And thank you to you, our amazing fans. RTL is still raising the rest of the money needed for their trip’s goal. If you’d like to contribute a bit more, you can give here and read more about the trip:
